| 5k Run for Families' Results |
| Despite a one week rain delay our first annual 5k Run for Families was a great success!! With 60 participants and volunteers, for whom we are eternally thankful, Saturday October 3rds run raised over $3,500 for eliminating substandard housing in Rowan county and providing education scholarships and school lunches to low income students in our Chinese sister city of Yangshuo. Some highlights of the run included Colton Henderson's first place finish and best men's overall with a time of 19 minutes and 13 seconds. First place for women's overall was Gunilla Bowling with a time of 23:20 and most amazing was the effort put forth by Team Rad whose fundraising efforts garnered over $1,000!!!!! So thanks to everyone that came out and participated, thank you sponsors, thank you volunteers, thank you city and university for permiting this event and thank you weather for finally clearing up for a day. Until Next year

| MSU Habitat Student Chapter Begins Anew |
| On the evening of Sept 9th and 10th a once dormant force for good re-awakened to build upon a legacy of good deeds. That re-awakened and invigorated force is none other the Morehead State University Student Chapter for Habitat for Humanity. In the past the club has contributed many volunteer hours in the construction of Habitat homes, as well as in fund-raising projects. Such as by building a utility shed on campus and raffling it off—all proceeds went towards building habitat homes. Campus Habitat Chapters do not only benefit the mission of Habitat for Humanity of course, students gain skills and knowledge useful for a lifetime and more importantly an appreciation for the value of service and volunteerism and the very real effect that kindness and compassion has upon a community. This lesson does not come easily and can only come through experience, an experience which will guide future decisions for a lifetime. Morehead Habitat applauds the rebirth of the MSU Club and looks forward to working with them for years to come. |
